Rae-Yen Song

Rae-Yen Song (b. Edinburgh, 1993) is based in Glasgow and holds a BA(Hons) in Sculpture and Environmental Art from Glasgow School of Art (2014). Currently in 2024, Song’s collated research exhibition and live programme ‘life-bestowing cadaverous soooooooooooooooooot,’ takes place at CCA Glasgow, UK. Song’s solo exhibitions include: ‘☰pa●○pa☴,’ Aspex Portsmouth, UK (2023); ‘WORMB,’ Quench Gallery, Margate, UK (duo presentation with Rosie Vera, 2022); ‘▷▥◉▻,’ Dundee Contemporary Arts, UK (2021); and ‘✵may-may songuu✵,’ esea contemporary, Manchester, UK (2020). Selected commissions include: ‘wūûūwūûū,’ LUX Scotland & BBC Scotland (2021); ‘songdynasty.life,’ Edinburgh Art Festival & Hunterian Art Gallery (2020 - ongoing). Selected group exhibitions include: ‘Crafted Selves: The Unfinished Conversation,’ Fife Contemporary, UK; ‘Body Poetics,’ GIANT, Bournemouth, UK (2023); ‘Let the Song Hold Us,’ FACT Liverpool, UK (2022); ‘Meet me at the threshold,’ Talbot Rice Gallery, Edinburgh, UK (2022); ‘Aggregate,’ Freelands Foundation, London (2022); ‘Fabric of Society,’ Glasgow International (2021); ‘Survey,’ Jerwood Arts, London, UK (2018); ‘Le Colt est Jeune & Haine,’ DOC, Paris, France (2018); ‘Human Rights Art Festival,’ JDA Perera Gallery, Colombo, Sri Lanka (2017). Song’s forthcoming projects include a residency with Print Clan, a group exhibition with Hayward Gallery Touring later this year, and a solo exhibition at Tramway’s main gallery in Glasgow, UK in 2025.
