The artist - Twenty years ago, my family's old house in Xiachun, Zhuhai, was demolished due to urban development, giving way to new residential zones. This event marked the beginning of our life in various rental homes, only returning to our original locale in 2016. My personal memories of the old house are faint, being only three at the time, but it holds a profound place in my family's collective memory, each member harboring distinct recollections and stories tied to where my parents built their careers and my sister spent her youth.

This nostalgic journey led to the creation of an AI-generated image project aimed at reconstructing these memories. Utilizing deep learning alongside text-to-image and image-to-image models, I embarked on a mission to visualize the old house as remembered by my family, thus preserving our shared history. This endeavor was more than a technological application; it was a deep dive into AI’s potential to document and enrich family legacies, particularly for those with rich cultural heritages.

By amalgamating family narratives and photographs, I employed AI to not just recall but breathe life into the old dwelling's essence, facilitating a form of cultural exchange and understanding. This project represents the symbiosis of technology and memory, capturing the essence of the old house and its pivotal role in shaping our family's identity and collective memory. Through the power of AI, I managed to not only preserve our familial history but also create a virtual homage to our lost architectural heritage, offering a lens into the past that shaped us.
