The artist - During the professional uncertainty of cycles of lockdowns, I returned to my creative practice and found a new outlet in drawing, using travel sketchbooks and photography as the basis for a new body of work. This drawing is based on a photograph taken on New Year’s Day when I was just under three months pregnant with my son. It was a moment of tremendous uncertainty and anticipation of the coming life transition. The colossal mountain form, the mysterious gash in its side, pointed to something unknowable, the comfort of the vastness of geological time.
